Conversations with A Wedding Planner in Ireland: Infusion Wedding Concepts

At CaterHire.ie, we take pride in being a part of your wedding journey, hiring out everything you need for your big day!

In today's segment of our wedding series, we had the pleasure of sitting down with wedding planner Sandra from Infusion Wedding Concepts. With years of experience under her belt, Sandra shares invaluable insights with us into the world of wedding planning, shedding light on the intricate process of ensuring that your big day runs seamlessly.

Tell us more about Infusion Wedding Concepts!

Of course. We’re now in our fourth year! I have a background in the hospitality industry and I’ve had a catering company with my husband for many years, and when covid hit I had the opportunity to use my existing skills from the event industry and combine them with my passion for design. And Infusion was born!

Why should a couple hire a wedding planner?

It’s the best day of your life. It should be executed in a professional way. We’ve done a lot of weddings, and we know the steps we need to take to bring your vision to life. Hiring a planner helps to eliminate that stress and overwhelm.

Will I still have control over our wedding if I hire a wedding planner?

Absolutely. We at Infusion have a collaborative experience. We don’t take your wedding away and meet you on the day. We’re very attentive to you and you’re all in!

On a client’s wedding day, what does your working day look like?

So we’re usually super excited when the wedding day arrives, after everyone’s hard work of bringing the vision to life. We’re mainly setting everything up, making sure all the finer details are in check. We don’t want you to be stressed about anything. The wedding day passes in the blink of an eye, so we’ll deal with everything in the background and ensure everything is executed well.

Are there cost savings in hiring a wedding planner?

Yes. There’s no trial and error as we know the best suppliers, companies and deals. Most wedding planners will keep a close eye on budget and ensure you don’t overspend.

How far in advance should I book a wedding planner?

If you’re looking for someone to look after the design and logistics part, I would recommend 9-12 months ahead, or if you can plan your wedding yourself but want to relax nearer to the wedding date, you can get packages that start from around 2 months out.

What are some of the biggest wedding trends you’re seeing at the moment? Any trends for summer?

I’m really excited about weddings this summer and the designs we’ve put together! There are a few trends I’ve seen for summer. Bow details is one! Bows are really in, we’re still embracing this trend. Patterns and that Italian flair are also huge this year. Fresh fruit is huge, lemons, passionfruit etc. to match your colour scheme. We’re also seeing a lot of white and nude tones, and that’s in the florals as well. We’re also seeing either a lot of foliage or a lot of florals.

What venue types are trending for 2024?

I think couples want more bespoke celebrations. We’re moving away from the cookie cutter hotel wedding and more towards private, exclusive weddings like marquee weddings.

What type of venue would you recommend for a summer 2024 wedding?

Ireland has an abundance of beautiful venues. For summer, any venue with a great outdoor space to embrace nature for receptions and cocktail hours, such as country houses and castles. Of course, the weather can be unpredictable, so it’s important to ensure the venue also has a great indoor space.

What’s your favourite part of your job as a wedding planner?

Of course, it’s really fulfilling to be part of someone’s special day. I love to have a personal connection with my couples, working with them along the way and then seeing all the love on the way. I also love design, and so when you see it all come together on the day, it’s really satisfying.

How do you try to be more sustainable?

Eco-friendliness has become more important to couples. I do love stationary but using digital features like a wedding website more is a lot more sustainable. We also try to reuse florals as much as possible.

What’s your favourite piece to hire from CaterHire?

I really love the tableware selection! It’s really beautiful. I love the plates, cutlery and glassware, which I’ve used for so many of my weddings. The coloured glassware is great!
